Story by the bride herself:

“I'm really lucky that my maid of honor had a lot of guy friends because that's how I ended up meeting Jugo. We all got together to go dancing at the beginning of summer 2007. We all were 19 and just finished our first year of University so were ready to go out and have some fun! After meeting Jugo and seeing his dance moves, I was totally into him.
We went to Hong Kong to celebrate our anniversary of dating for 8 years and stayed in a really nice hotel. With a 180 view of the harbor, he proposed to me over our own private candlelit dinner in the room which overlooked the entire city.
We live abroad and travel any chance we get so thought it was only fitting for us to have a destination wedding. We had a chance to visit Villa Delenia last summer and just fell in love with the place. The owner’s father had built the place himself after spending years looking for the perfect location. It’s completely isolated on a cliff surrounded by greenery and the sea and was just too beautiful to not get married in!
Best moment of the wedding was walking down the aisle with my parents and seeing Jugo and all our closest family and friends there. I really thought that Jugo would be the first to cry but as soon as I saw him it just hit me and the water works started off. By the time I actually reached Jugo everybody was laughing and crying and it’s now my happiest memory... (continued below)

The location of Villa Delenia was set on a mountain top surrounded by the sea and lots of greenery so we wanted to play that up with a romantic, rustic, woodland wedding. The place itself was so nice that we didn’t need much for the decor so we focused on having romantic lighting with candles all along the table and in the pool and twinkly light in all the bushes. Then we added olive leaves, eucalyptus, rosemary and other greenery with a few flowers as a table runner, to the bouquets and boutonnieres and around archway we stood at to get married. The color palette was forest green and ivory as the main colors and a hint of blush to bring it all together.

When we went to sit down for dinner the table just blew me away. We had one long table that fit all our guests and overlooked all the scenery and the sea. The table had a greenery runner going down it surrounded by lots of candles. On the plates were the menus I spent hours designing and had a sprig of rosemary wrapped in it. All of it looked better then I imagined and not to mention the food was incredible!
The dinner was pretty special and also one of my favorite memories because our parents speeches were so heart warming and loving and once again everyone was back to crying by the end of it.
Everything we added to the wedding, we wanted it to feel like us. Therefore, we had cookies & milk and smore roasting for a late night snack because those are our favorite treats. In case you don’t know what smores are, its a typical Canadian camping dessert where you roast a marshmallow over a fire and then place a piece of chocolate on top and sandwich it with two graham crackers. The guests on the grooms side had a lot of fun with the smores since that was the first time they ever did it.
We also had a polaroid station set up where guests could snap a photo of themselves and glue it into our wedding guest book with a date idea. Around that station we had a bunch of photos hanging on burlap string with clothing pins which featured us dating over the last nine years and all our grandparents wedding photos.

My favourite though was my veil which my mom had worn at her wedding 34 years earlier. My mom is excellent at sewing so she was able to modify the length of it to fit my dress perfectly.
I wanted everything in my floral to be very natural and green. I had a cascading bouquet with a wild look to it made up of olive branches and Eucalyptus, a few herbs, white lisianthus, alstroemeria, astilbe, chamomile and a few cascading Singapore orchids. It was beautiful! I also had olive branches and baby’s breath added to my hair which I liked.
My dress had a vintagey/romantic look to it that was jewel laced with a trumpet silhouette, v neckline with straps and opened a bit in the back. My veil was made by my mom and worn by her 34 years earlier.
Since none of our guests were actually from Greece, we prepared welcome bags for them. Inside the bags were a welcome card, itinerary for the week, fans from China, his and her snacks (the brides being chocolate chip cookies that I baked) and tissues for crying. I made all the stationary that was put in the bags and designed the bag myself. We also had favours the day of the wedding which were bottles of terra creta olive oil that came wrapped with burlap string and a sprig of rosemary.
I absolutely loved our cake. It was a two tier victorian chocolate sponge cake with chocolate ganache on the inside and a white frosting on top. On each tier an olive branch was wrapped around it.
What made our wedding really special is that in every detail our guests could see how it related to us. Think about what you really like as a couple and find a way to incorporate that in the wedding.
